Description
It’s been said that the most powerful words in the universe are “I love you.” I don’t agree with that. The word love has been so watered down that we use it to describe our feelings about a brand of mustard. That you love me...well, I’m glad you feel that I have at least the same place in your life as Grey Poupon.
No, the most powerful words in the universe are “I forgive you.” Why? Because they actual convey freedom to you and the person you forgive.
The problem is that all too often we think we’ve forgiven only to find ourselves realizing it didn’t “take” or “stick” and so we need to forgive again. This shouldn’t be. We should be able to forgive and move on. If we can’t, we are told to “get over it.” Like if we could, we would have already. The title of this book is intended to suggest that we can actually learn how to get over “it.”
To be honest, this book is written by a born again Christian for born again Christians. That being said, so what?
There are truths that are universal and which no church, religion, or doctrine has a copyright on. Consider Love, Altruism, Selflessness, Faith, Hope, and even Forgiveness. And the benefit of knowing those truths and adjusting our lives to live in accordance with those truths is available to everyone regardless of their beliefs.
I personally know folks who are professing atheists who understand the concepts of forgiveness and who see the benefits of that practice in their daily lives. In fact, they benefit far more than some very religious folks I know who seem to have no real handle on how to forgive anyone.
So read on. This book is for you. If it leads you into a greater understanding of the Author of Forgiveness, then that’s great!
But even if it doesn’t, and you just understand your need to forgive others, and gain insight into how to do it so that it “sticks”, well, that’s actually pretty great, too!
